Studio Case II, Steinberg’s versatile music software package, comes at an astonishingly affordable entry-level price. Endowed with Cubase SE3 and six VST sweet-sounding instruments, Studio Case II offers everything you need to get into music production.

Cubase SE3 is a full-fledged software studio featuring powerful composing, recording, editing and mixing tools. It ships with the same interface and award-winning VST Audio Engine as Steinberg’s flagship Cubase SX3. And when it comes to quality, you can rest assure that the SE versions of HALion, The Grand, Virtual Guitarist, Groove Agent, D'cota and Virtual Bassist featured in Studio Case II certainly measure up to their big brothers.

  • A complete music studio, affordably priced
  • Based on the same technology as Steinberg’s pro software
  • Powerful tools for composing, recording, processing and mixing your music
  • Six versatile virtual instruments: the software sampler HALion SE, the concert grand piano The Grand SE, the virtual drummer Groove Agent SE, Virtual Guitarist Electric Edition SE, Virtual Bassist SE and the synthesizer D'cota SE
  • Full set of effect plug-ins
  • Up to 48 audio tracks in 24-bit/96-kHz quality and an unlimited number of MIDI tracks
  • Great-sounding 32-bit Audio Engine
  • Cross-platform (Mac OS X/PC)
  • Attractive upgrade offerings for all components

Studio Case II is the successor to Steinberg’s popular Studio Case software package. With Cubase SE3, Studio Case II brings to your desktop a sequencer based on the latest SX3 technology. It includes a totally overhauled interface and the award-winning VST 2.3 Audio Engine with full latency compensation. Adding another VST instrument to the arsenal, Version II now features Virtual Bassist SE.

The New Sequencer Cubase SE3

Studio Case Version II now comes with Cubase SE3, which factors dozens of new functions and improvements into the sequencing equation. The revamped user interface features an enhanced Track Inspector and has been tidied up for even more straightforward, simpler handling.

VST 2.3 Audio Engine - Cubase SE Version 3 now also features the award-winning VST 2.3 Audio Engine, which many pros consider to be the most reliable and best-sounding engine available. Full automatic latency compensation is part of the package. Regardless of how many plug-ins or instruments you choose to load, timing with sample-by-sample precision is assured.

Workflow - Alongside many detailed refinements in the Project window, tool bars and editors, Cubase SE3 now offers automatic chord recognition and key correction. The Info bar lets you edit several events simultaneously. MIDI files are easily dragged and dropped into an existing or new project. With individually variable Pre-Roll and Post-Roll times, musicians will find it easier to punch in and out of recordings.

Working with Loops - Another vital innovation in Cubase SE3 is its enhanced capacity to recognize hit-points. It now distinguishes rhythmic audio material such as drum or percussion loops with greater speed and precision. Upon conversion, these loops may be synced up individually to the respective song tempo. This facilitates your production efforts, particularly when working with loop libraries. To this end, Cubase SE3 supports all standards audio file formats.

Yet Another VST Instrument: Virtual Bassist SE - The included set of virtual instruments has again been extended. Virtual Bassist SE now ups the VST instrument count from five to six. Like the full version of Virtual Bassist, the SE version offers bass lines recorded live by real musicians in a variety of musical styles and with numerous variations. These styles automatically adapt to the song tempo, and their key and playing technique may be changed via a MIDI keyboard. What’s more, Virtual Bassist SE affords access to sound and effects parameters to tweak the bass tone to suit the given project. Of course, you can always opt to upgrade Virtual Bassist SE to the full version at a remarkably affordable price.

Includes

  • Cubase SE3 - The full music production software package Cubase SE3 is on board. It pairs extensive audio and MIDI features with professional processing options and effects. Based on the latest VST 2.3 Audio Engine (32-bit floating point), Cubase SE3 offers fully automatic latency compensation. So go ahead and create your own music. And take advantage of a system that is compatible with all Cubase products used in professional studios around the world.
  • HALion SE - HALion SE is the four-voice multi-timbral player version of the award-winning software sampler HALion. It ships with a Composer Library of its very own. HALion SE reads samples in HALion 2 and Soundfont 2 formats, thereby affording you direct access to millions of samples. In fact, HALion SE provides every thing you need for creating arrangements and building an extensive sample Library of your own. Courtesy of its exceptional Waldorf filters, HALion SE delivers sounds that are punchy, full and dynamic all around. The SE version also features the HALion sampler’s advanced disk streaming technology, which lets you tap the resources of bigger sample libraries without taking up acres of RAM real estate. The SE version of HALion can hold up to 32 programs simultaneously in the memory. In multimode, four of these programs can play simultaneously on different MIDI channels. Alongside HALion 2 and Soundfont 2 formats, HALion SE also supports samples in AIFF, WAV, REX, SD2 (Mac only), LM4 and LM4 Mk2 formats, all of which are easily imported via drag & drop.
  • The Grand SE - The Grand SE offers glorious acoustic piano sounds in four different tonal variations (Natural, Warm, Bright and Hard). These options let you quickly and conveniently adapt the instrument’s sound to different musical styles. Like a bona fide concert grand, The Grand SE may be played across the full extent of its 88 keys with sustain, sostenuto and soft pedals. And you can tune the performance of The Grand SE to suit the CPU’s computing power.
  • Virtual Bassist SE - The youngest member of the SE instrument family is Virtual Bassist SE. This lean variant of Virtual Bassist offers bass lines recorded by professional players. Five different styles with several variations on each are at your fingertips. All you have to do is play chords or root notes on the keyboard and Virtual Bassist SE will accompany every arrangement in the right key and tempo. Many playing parameters and phrasings are available, all of which may be controlled dynamically via mouse or MIDI controllers. Virtual Bassist SE can be played and controlled in a variety of ways: You can opt to work with the preset styles or play your own bass lines in single note mode using purely the instrument’s sound rather than its formidable chops. Every style offers variations and fills. You can have Virtual Bassist SE thump out a simple root notes or finesse its way through elaborate bass riffs. It also features parameters for controlling tempo (half, normal and double time), the swing factor and timing accuracy, which lets you lend your playing an even more natural feel. Other sound-sculpting parameters let you tweak the bass to taste. All these parameters may of course be automated.
  • Virtual Guitarist Electric Edition SE - Virtual Guitarist EE SE is the perfect rhythm guitarist for your songs. This easy-to-play instrument offers six styles that fit right in with every suitable arrangement. Like its bottom-line thumping brother Virtual Bassist SE, Virtual Guitarist EE SE is based on the real thing - electric guitars played by flesh-and-blood riff-meisters. You have full control over all musical and sound-shaping parameters. Handling is phenomenally easy and intuitive. Simply select one of the six different players and a suitable part (up to four variations). Then play the desired chord or root note on the connected MIDI keyboard and presto, you’ll hear a groovy guitar part locked into the timing and key of your arrangement. Virtual Guitarist responds to your attack dynamics as well as to pedals and control keys, so you can embellish performances with musically expressive fills, sustained chords, accents and syncopation.
  • Groove Agent SE - Groove Agent SE is a powerful, easy-to-handle virtual drummer. Its 11 different styles may be varied in steps via the Complexity control and embroidered with fills and accents. In addition, you can adjust the volume and mute the individual percussion instruments used in each style. And of course you are free to control variations and fills via the keyboard and record them as MIDI automation data. Though Groove Agent SE is great for playing back prefab rhythm patterns, it can do more than that: All instruments may be played separately via a MIDI keyboard, so you can also use it as a professional-sounding module to create drum grooves of your own.
  • D'cota SE - Shoehorning a lot of synthesizing power into an easy-to-use package, D'cota SE ships with a highly advanced virtual analog audio sound generator. Its top-shelf, aliasing-free sound quality and flexible programming and modulation options come courtesy of two oscillators offering four standard waveforms each. Plus you get other complex waveforms, a multimode filter with two low-pass filters and one high-pass filter, FM modulation, ring modulation, two envelope generators and two LFOs per voice. What’s more, an integrated Arpeggiator and an effects unit providing distortion, delay and phaser effects are also on board. Despite the multitude of parameters and modulation options, D'cota SE is amazingly easy to use. Its clearly arranged modulation matrix not only facilitates intuitive parameter and modulation source assignment, its clear view also provides at-a-glance insight into modulation links.
